Prince William Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, as announced by palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a reception preceding the environmental conference, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

Father and son were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the COP summit.

Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the next COP as assuming an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were greeted attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Connection

The UN meeting will coincide with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the day before he joins the COP summit on 6 November.

In recent days the royal figure described the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats facing us over planetary heating, climate change and species extinction," the monarch informed participants.
